MISSION _ Planting the Seeds of Sustainability

Urban Ambassadors is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving as your hub for sustainable living
in Greater Des Moines. We help you set sustainability goals in 7 areas, map local resources to
achieve those goals, and design local projects to grow your community for a healthier planet.

VISION _ Cities as Solutions to Environmental Concerns and Human Needs

In four years, every resident in the Greater Des Moines area will have access to: 100% clean renewable energy; fuel-efficient vehicles and excellent public transportation; efficient, healthy buildings and affordable housing; zero waste and carbon neutral communities; vibrant water, air and soil; safe streets and sidewalks; thriving local industries; quality education and job-training; a livable wage and a celebration of all citizens’ rights.

GOALS _ 2010

  1. 200 members
  2. Professional website providing member resources in a simple, user-friendly environment
  3. Implement four zero-waste, carbon-neutral local seed projects
  4. Sustainably fund operating expenses to enhance services to our members
