Previously:
Imagine a property with an outdoor classroom and community gathering area; someplace where fresh fruits are provided to the community for free; people are educated and empowered to go home and grow their own food; a place where youth can find job training; an outdoor kitchen where the community can come to see live cooking classes/demonstrations as well as learn about nutrition and food preservation!
Forest Avenue Outreach has obtained this long lot east of 6th Avenue and north of Mercy Hospital for eventual use as an orchard space. Click or tap the image to see more.
That's what UA members are working to create together with friends from Forest Avenue Outreach and across the community. Using Urban Ambassadors' unique "Seed Project" framework for inspiring community projects, we're calling together a diverse group of community minded individuals to transform a currently vacant lot into an exciting new community space.
To learn more or pitch in, don't miss this event! You can RSVP on Facebook or download a calendar item from the UA website.
