Our next effort to raise awareness about sustainability in greater Des Moines is about to blast off!  Urban Ambassadors is teaming up with Art Noir, a program of the Des Moines Art Center, to present an interactive art exhibit at next week's 80/35 music festival.

The exhibition will grow throughout the fest, and we need volunteers to help things organized and invite people to participate.  Here's our current schedule:

 

Inspired by Cup City, a recent installation at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, we'll invite the fest audience and passersby to insert their recyclable beverage containers into the fest's perimeter fence to visualize how much waste material we generate together--and consider the benefits of recycling or reusing more of it.

Did you know that if placed end-to-end, the water bottles Americans buy every year would form a tower that reaches the moon--13 times?  Our concept includes giant moon boots to match the fest's outer space theme.  They'll be made of whiteboard material that will allow participants to share a message about making our community more sustainable.
