Ready to help lead the sustainability community?

Urban Ambassadors has a nine-member board of directors (all volunteers) and we are currently accepting applications! Below are a few aspects we consider when reviewing board applications:  

• Passionate about the future of sustainability in the Greater Des Moines area

• Understanding of the three pillars of sustainability and how these impact Des Moines and marginalized communities

• Experience in or are interested in one of the following: 

  • Social Media Content Creator

  • Treasurer and/or Financial Committee Chair

  • Grant Writing

  • Food Focus Area Committee Chair

  • Waste Focus Area Committee Chair

  • Built Infrastructure Focus Area Committee Chair

• Availability of about three to five hours per week to contribute towards our goals 

If you have an interest outside of the roles mentioned above, let us know about your expertise and we can discuss if that aligns with our vision.

What does it take to be a board member?

Board members are critical in helping UA grow and sustain its current operations to serve the community. They are dedicated to envisioning and guiding the community to its next chapter.  We hope you'll consider joining or perhaps refer an interested friend to join the board when the next opportunity arises.
